Celebrating the New Look with a Giveaway!

It’s been a little over a month since I have updated or written a post because the site has been undergoing a massive makeover! It is now fully integrated with social media (check out the lower corner… your face might be there!), has a fresh new look, and quite honestly is much easier for this website-challenged gal to maneuver.  YAY! So, in celebration we are going to run a giveaway here on Meet Your Beef!

Over Christmas I was gifted this amazing barn wood picture frame that was personalized with my brand.  Not only was the personal touch special, the history behind the wood and the barbed wire were also special.   Our burn pile at at .7 Ranch just so happened to have a few boards that my mom had pulled off the barn and replaced.  I couldn’t let her light them up so I took them to the same very talented, Danta Call in Sanger, CA (find her on Facebook for custom orders!), and asked her to create some frames for me.  Check these things out!  Thank you Danta, your work is amazing and so very special.

Possibly one from Firestone’s? Meet you there, ready, GO!

Our favorite during the craziness of calving season is french dips crock-pot style. Super easy! I do try to check the roast with a meat thermometer periodically so I don’t over cook it. We also like to toast the french bread with garlic and butter. It makes great leftovers too!!

    • meetyourbeef

Totally printing this recipe! Thanks Heidi!

    Whoops…Here is the important part!!

  • Tiff Schut

Our favorite beef dinner would have to be roast in the crock-pot slow cooked all day mashed potatoes on the stove with frozen sweet corn and fresh buns.

    • meetyourbeef

Yummm… I think I can smell a roast just after reading your post. Welcome to Meet Your Beef Tiff. Thanks for entering 🙂

  • Mackenzie K

Our favorite dinner with beef would have to be steaks grilled over a regular wood fire, with sadza and cooked collared greens (Zimbabwean staples), and the best part is you eat the steaks Zimbabwean style- with your hands!

    • meetyourbeef

Thanks Mackenzie! How fun to eat a steak with your hands. I’m gonna have to try it now.

I already stalked your blog and have this one written down! 🙂

  • Cairenn Day

I think mine is steaks cut from a first cut chuck roast (tight budget here), sliced and marinated in Worcester sauce, liquid smoke and Mrs Dash with Garlic and herb, I add some chopped garlic from a jar. That is then broiled and served with a caramelized onion gravy and ‘Mom’s potatoes (peeled and chopped potatoes boiled until the most of the water is gone, seasoned with bacon grease) and a spinach/cranberry/almond salad with a raspberry dressing

    • meetyourbeef

Sounds yummy, Cairenn! Beef is so versatile. Even when it comes to the budget.

      • Cairenn Day

I have done the same and made kabobs with it. It is so helpful to have some knowledge of cuts of beef. I love paying pot roast prices for steak, and I still have meat for strogonoff and 2 of those roasts will also give me enough meat for a pot of stew.

My absolute favorite beef meal is a home-grilled steak using charcoal. Medium-rare with a side of grilled potatoes and fruit. Delicious!

Love fresh fruit with a steak! It’s even things out. Thanks for entering 🙂

  • Suzy Weathers Estill

Jesse asks for round steak breaded and browned and thrown in the crockpot all day with onions and beef broth — add a little sour cream at the end… 😉

    • meetyourbeef

And I’m sure his mama happily makes it for him!

Ours is the smoked prime rib we do every Christmas.
I take a 17-20 lb prime rib, cut it off the bones, season it with FSU beef rub, tie it back on the bones and let it set 24-48 hours. Then I smoke it on my Traeger smoker for 5-6 hours. We usually have scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, corn casserole and my wife’s world famous “pink stuff”.
No I’m hungry, think I’ll have to go have a hamburger.

    • meetyourbeef

Ok, Gary, I think there needs to be another excuse to have this meal. My mouth won’t stop watering!

  • Heidi Jean

Living on a cattle ranch, it seems I put beef in everything: spaghetti sauce, beans, always in Mexican food, etc. A favorite was when we did a cattlewomen food booth and made eggs, cheese and ground beef rolled up in a tortilla for breakfast burritos… sold tons!!

    • meetyourbeef

      Yumm! Thanks for entering, Heidi!

  • Megan Doherty

My favorite beef??? Oh now that is truly a tough question…..

    I would have to say
1st place would be my father in laws country fried steak!! Melts in your mouth and made from delicious prime cut steak!

2nd – my sister has a restaurant called Cowpunchers, the most popular item on the menu and my favorite is a burger she calls the Stockman – 1/3 of a pound of quality 80/20 (fat is important in a juicy burger;) ground beef seasoned with special seasoning and served with all the fixins on grilled sour dough bread!!! To die for!!!

I could go on but in already taking up too much room 🙂

  • meetyourbeef

CONGRATS to bbuzzard for winning the frame! I will email you here shortly 🙂
